Cables used by the ropeway. At the top, track rope, which is smooth so the carriage wheels roll easily on it. Next down is traction rope, which connects the uphill sides of the carriages. Next down is balance rope, which connects the downhill side of the carriages. At the bottom is the heaviest cable, the tensioning rope.
