A telephoto upstream from Rotherhithe today shows Tower Bridge (1894), built 50 years after the Thames Tunnel. At the time the tunnel was built the first bridge upriver from Rotherhithe was London Bridge. The tall thing on the left is The Shard (2012), designed by Renzo Piano, and currently the tallest building in the European Union.
