He left a will instructing his wife, Martha, and the attorney and executor of his estate, Robert Thrun, to create a trust of $40,000.00. Income from this trust was to be used to make annual payments of $1,200.00 to two old friends of Mr. Pate, Mrs. Halina Meissner and Mrs. Danuta Rucinski, for the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Meissner died in 1990 after having received a total of $30,000.00 from the trust. Mrs. Rucinski died in October 1992, having received a total of $32,400.00. The trust specifies that following the death of Mrs. Rucinski, the assets are to be distributed to Maurice Pate's sister, Anne LeFevre, and his brothers, Richard E. Pate, Jr., and Theodore Pate, or if any of them be deceased, to their surviving issue." ED: I met a Danuta at Cape Cod in the 1950's, who may have been Rucinski.
