The mixing console consists of dozens of channel strips, each attached to one or a stereo pair of microphones or to a single instrument feed (electric organ, electric guitar, etc.) A channel strip controls the phantom power to the microphones, the pre-amps and power amps, equalizers, volume, combination with effects such as reverberation, level meters and switches to route the signals.
