A book eaten by insects is disassembled, and a page is laid on a screen which is immersed in a suspension of paper fibers. Water carrying paper fibers passes through the paper, depositing a thicker layer in the holes in the old paper, where the flow rate is higher. The result is new paper filling in the holes in the old paper.
