Plan of the Has Saptan underground fuel storage site. The tanks (gray rectangles) are steel cylinders, set in horizontal rock tunnels 40 meters below ground level. Each of the eight large tanks on either side of the central tunnel are 34 feet tall and 600-700 feet long. It was built after WW II to be a bomb-proof fuel store for British Navy ships and aircraft.
