One of the first events of the SIA tour was a visit to Golden Bay in the northwest corner of Malta. That is a 17c watch tower on the hill, built to warn of the approach of Muslim raiders, who used to plunder Malta and other coasts in the Mediterranean, taking slaves to man their galleys.
