This map from the Jacobsen-Lloyd report (I addded the color) shows the course of the canal from near Bavian to Kalatah where it joined the Kosher River, which continued to Nineveh, to water Sennacherib's gardens. The additional flow provided by the canal was also used to irrigate farms.
