Folio 32v, portrait of Christ.The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript of the four New Testament gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in Latin. It was made about 800 AD in England, Scotland or Ireland. It was trimmed severly in the 19c, and the pages now are about 33x25.5 cm. It now has 340 folios (leaves). This is folio 32v, meaning it is the 32nd piece of parchment in the book and would be on the left when opened. Pages which lie on the right are numbered r for recto.
