London and Dublin March 2018

We walked around Trinity Chapel and down stairs to enter the crypt, built by Anselm to support the choir of 1130. "The fire of 1174 did not touch the crypt; nor did William of Sens, except for putting in three stout piers, their capitals re-used from Ernulf's choir, to support new choir piers that did not sit squarely on preexisting ones in the crypt. So the crypt is remarkably perfectly preserved."
