As one of the top six generals under Toyotomi Hideoshi, Satake Yoshinobu was lord of Hitachi province with an income of 540,000 koku. He was on the losing side at the Battle of Sekigahara, however, and the winner Ieyasu Tokugawa demoted him by making him lord of a smaller domain, Kubota, with an income of 180,000 koku.
