A reconstruction (1926) of the Honno-ji temple where Oda Nobunaga, first of the series of three unifiers of Japan, committed suicide in 1582 rather than be captred by the treacherous Akeochi Mitsuhide. The original temple was destroyed during the attack by Mitsuhide and was rebuilt in 1589 on this site.
