This Pine Tree Room faced the trellis. A party held here 18 September 1863 by the Shinsengumi was followed by the assassination of its leader. The Shinsengumi was a group of sword teachers organized to serve the Shogun at a time when his rule of Japan was under attack by the southern domains.
