We visited the home and pottery of Hamada Shoji, the most famous Mashiko potter. He was one of the three founders of the Mingei crafts movement. He is on the left in this photo, with Yanagi Sōetsu (center, the philosopher), and Kawai Kanjirō (right, potter).
