Before the 12c the area to te left was an island, Lausa, settled by refugees from Roman Epdaurum, which was destroyed by Avars and Slavs ca. 615. Slavs occupied the mainland, to the right. By the 12c the two settlements merged and the channel separating them was filled to form the present Stradun.
