The Peristyle is a square at the middle of the palace. On the left (east) is a colonnade, beyond which was Diocletian's Mausoleum, now the Cathedral. On the right (west) was another colonnade, now absorbed and obscured by medieval palaces which incorporate them. Straight ahead (south) is a portico leading to the Vestibule, the entrance to Diocleatian's private quarters.
