A couple of blocks away from Potsdamer Platz is the Kulturforum, built when Berlin was still split by the Wall, for new facilities to replace those located on Museum Island, now in the Soviet Zone. This is the Neue Nationalgalerie, designed by Mies van der Rohe. It houses modern art. The current show featured a forest of tree trunks from floor to ceiling, with the bark removed.
