There are 5 concentric stainless steel pipes in a cryogenic supply line. Between the outer two layers (#1 & 2) is a vacuum. Between 2 and 3 is liquid nitrogen. Between 3 and 4 is vacuum. Between 4 and 5 is liquid helium returning to the refrigerator. Inside 5 is colder liquid helium going to cool the superconductors.
