The sanctuary was designed to seat 1.200 people. It is used now for concerts. In January 1942 the Germans sent 2,605 Jews from Pilsen to concentration camps. Only 204 survived the war, and many of them emigrated to the USA or Israel. Those remaining today hold services in a much smaller room.
