Uncle Richard took this picture of me at Cape Cod in 1942, and was so pleased with it that he tried to give or sell it to Coca Cola Company.

I thnk this was taken in Atherton, California, where my Dad was stationed about 1942 or 1943 for a year.

We may all have moved east to stay with Maurice on Cape Cod in 1946 to avoid a polio outbreak in Denver. All the Pate families are represented here: Maurice and his Welsh Corgis; Rich and Ann; Peggy, Steve and Cindy; and Mom, Pete, Mary and I (with my hand on the Corgi).

This looks like Uncle Maurice's home on Cape Cod.

This was graduation day at Harvard in 1962.

I was in England in this picture, in my first of two years at Oxford University.

Coming back to Oxford after my first summer in France in 1963 I brought back a beard.

When I worked as a Research Associate at Cornell University 1975-76 I lived in a former barber shop in Ludlowville, NY, about 9 miles north of Ithaca. My bedroom was in the basement, and my bed was on a ledge of stone. This is two views of that room.

Mariana and I entertained Mom, Harry, Mary and Pete one time. Dinner was quite late, but everyone put on a nice face for this photo.
