The Potapsco River runs west to east into Chesepeake Bay, with Carroll County on the north bank in the west, Baltimore County on the north bank in the east, and Howard County on the south bank in the west and Anne Arundel County on the south bank in the east. Johnston not, therefore, in Anne Arundel County.
